He returned to his team as Teikoku started their warm-up. If one could even call it that. Shot after shot rained into the dirt, whipping away dust as they hit the ground with unbearable force. Passes were traded that were so technically impossible, he couldn't seem to trust his eyes. Every player looked like they were made for this, for playing with brute strength and incredible intellect melded together into one terrifying display of power.
And in the middle of it all was Kidou. Directing and controlling what seemed untameable, like a commander on the battlefield.
Looking at his discouraged teammates, some of which seemed to be close to running away, he realized that it probably shouldn't have excited him as much as it did.

Luffy's eyebrows knotted together in concentration. He kept silent like this for almost a minute before his expression brightened up again. "Nope!"
Shanks gave the child a sappy smile and nodded sagely. "Of course, you wouldn't know what went through the head of those stinky barbarians." Privately he wondered if another smile like that would be enough to kill him.
Luffy laughed brightly. "You're weird."
Seems like he'd find out sooner than later.

After his manager found him slacking off too much at his previous corporate gig, Kim Soleum was fired with little to no notice. Refusing to move back in with his parents and with rent due soon, he decided to apply at one of those quick-hire markets for one or two months while he found something that fit his qualifications.
This was a mistake for many reasons, and can be pinpointed as the catalyst for all that went wrong afterwards.
