The baby unlatches with a soft little sound and goes limp, milk-drunk and warm.
Jon is sitting on the recliner.
“Can you pass her to me?” He whispers. “So you can rest.”
Sansa doesn’t even think about the fact that her shirt is pushed up and her bra is unclipped. Modesty has become a joke three weeks into unexpected motherhood. She shifts carefully and hands the baby over. Jon takes her gently and holds her against his chest. He kisses her head.
The sight of Jon with their daughter is comforting and one of her favorite things. It’s also a problem.
Because soon he’ll have to go back to Castle Black and this little world they’ve built where they’re parents who sleep in the same room for the baby’s sake and cry together when she does something cute, will disappear. Soon their lives will turn into trains and custody plans and calendars and silence and Sansa doesn’t know how they’ll survive that.

― George R.R. Martin, A Clash of KingsThis story is inspired by “Battle of the Bastards” episode of HBO series 6. I was so disappointed with Jon and Sansa’s reunion that I HAD to write what I wanted to happen not what HBO showed us. That means sex. Lots of slow build, smokin’ hot sex.
This was originally posted on 13th November, but edited a month later as I realised I’d somehow posted the original without a big, important chunk of plot device in the opening scene. Duh.
Other minor improvements were made to the rest of the story too, so even if you read it when first posted, it’s probably worth another look.

“Things don’t stay bad forever, but they don’t stay good forever either,” Sansa responded back, turning her head to catch Arya’s eyes.
“It’s all about balance.” Sansa nodded her agreement closing her eyes.
Balance; such a precarious thing that was so hard to achieve in life, it was a constant act of trying to walk the thin line between two extremes. Sansa knew she wasn’t very good at it, more times than not she had leaned far too close to one extreme rather than traveling the middle ground between. Was there any way to truly walk that middle ground completely balanced? Was it an act that you had to achieve on your own, or was it something that was only achievable with the right person?
Sansa figured she would learn that lesson when the time came.

She was a stupid girl, who kept having the same seven stupid dreams, of escaping the monster who was Ramsey Bolton. Dreams of jumping off the battlements with Theon, finding Jon, fighting for their home and Westeros, first against the whitewalkers and then the Dragon Queen, all before she died alone. She thought they were dreams, until Ramsey told her Jon had become the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Were her dreams a version of the future? Was it set in stone? Could she change it?
All Sansa had to do, was take Theon's hand and jump....
