Summary
Prince Theseus was raised by the castle staff. His mother died when he was young and his father resented him because of it. Of course, it wasn’t his fault his mother had passed, but the king needed something to blame and he chose that to be his youngest son.
The young Prince’s brother didn’t resent him for ‘killing’ their mother, but simply for looking like her. Though the elder knows the boy had no control over his appearance, it hurts for him to be around his brother.
And so, just like that the staff had become his family, more so than his actual family. Theseus would become the crowned prince at the age of eleven, as his brother had refused the role in order to be the General of the kingdom’s military. And that is how their story begins…

Summary
The Crowned Prince Theseus was never loved by his family. They only saw him as the murderer to the Queen that so many held close to their hearts.
Theseus was overworked and always exhausted, he barely took care of himself, though it’s not like his family had ever noticed this. The castle staff did though. Many of the staff would say the the Prince was a cold, distant presence, though after working along side him a few times they’d change their answer, instead saying he’s a caring soul, destroyed by the pressures of life.
The castle staff pitied the boy, it was clear to all of them that the royal family held a kind of hatred over him, showing more love to the servants of the palace than their own kin. They all tried their best to make it easier for the boy, though not being able to do much.
So when the Prince was sent away to a neighbouring empire in an attempt to create an ally, the staff were worried. It was clear the family just wanted to send the boy away, though nobody was sure if this trip would treat the boy well.

Or: Theseus has been neglected his whole life, when his family send him away to a neighbouring empire, he can’t help but prefer it.
