His gaze drifts over Theo’s face, tracing the curve of his cheek, the line of his jaw, and then—“Dude… you have freckles.” The words tumble out as a sudden rush of fascination tightens his chest. Tiny specks of gold scattered over Theo’s skin like constellations, and Liam stares like he’s just discovered a secret sky mapped onto him.
And maybe he has.
Theo tilts an eyebrow, a lazy smile tugging at his lips. “They’re not new, genius.”
“I’ve never seen them before,” Liam mumbles, leaning closer, hoovering slightly over Theo now. He squints like he’s trying to solve a puzzle. “They’re like… little stars. Tiny constellations.” His voice drops softer than he means it to. Awe now leaking out unrestrained. “I should count them. One by one. See if they spell something.”
