A Fraternity House AU
When faced with the choice between living in an overpriced fleabag motel and a free fraternity house, Enjolras would absolutely choose the motel. In his opinion, frats are filled with boorish, sexist, drunken idiots. Unfortunately, the rest of his friends feel differently and les Amis take over a fraternity, Alpha Beta Chi, in order to help Marius Pontmercy make it through his pledge year. "It isn’t all that bad,” Grantaire says, tail waving around idly. “I mean. I’m better at being a dragon. Better than I was at being human. I was pretty shit at being human.”
“But,” Enjolras thinks about Grantaire’s mismatched hoard and his gruff but overall friendly demeanor. “You’re awful at being a dragon.”
Grantaire responds to that by slamming his tail right into Enjolras’ gut.

Enjolras is a knight in slightly battered armor and Grantaire is the laziest dragon in all of history. The road to happily ever after was apparently paved with much more bickering than Enjolras had expected. (Or the one where curses and emotions make everything complicated.)

Or, the one where Valjean steals a sandwich, Enjolras is very enthusiastic about presentations, and Cosette doesn't know if she wants to fuck everybody or for them to just fuck off.

Neither Rosa nor his mother had ever come up with a name for it. Enjolras had ended up tentatively calling it psychically enhanced empathy after devouring every sci-fi and fantasy book with psychic characters he could find (most of them confirming their insistence that he keep his secret hidden on pain of experimentation and a ruined life). He’d read everything out there, including a truly depressing number of crackpot books and magazine articles that recommended everything from communicating with angels to playing with crystals, all to try and enhance natural abilities and open the inner eye. None of those books or articles ever had any advice about making it stop.
Enjolras is used to keeping himself physically distanced from everyone around him. But when he accidentally touches Grantaire, he finds himself wanting to break the rules he's always lived by.

Summary
For most of college, Grantaire was hopeless over Enjolras, and everyone but Enjolras knew it. Now he’s worked to get over his crush, and for the most part, he's fine. When Combeferre asks him to choreograph and dance in the Midsummer Night’s Dream-inspired opera he composed as his senior thesis, Grantaire says yes, even though he’s cast opposite Enjolras, as Puck to his Oberon. The chance to dance is worth the potential problems, and he'll have his friends as a buffer.
He doesn't count on long hours of practicing and choreographing and talking together, while they try to figure each other and their futures out. As much as he tries to avoid it, it seems inevitable that he falls for Enjolras again, and this time it isn't a crush.

this fic is the best I have ever read, and a book I would undoubtedly buy. I would watch the movie adaptation of this fic and read fanfiction of this fanfiction. I would look at all the fanart of this fanfic as I listen to this fanfiction on audiobook while wearing my World Ain't Ready #1 Fan shirt. No matter where I am I can come back to this fic and be okay. I've reread it to the point where I quote it to myself, I love it beyond words.
