Making far too much eye contact. Only for his eyes to dart over to his wife from time to time. To the uninitiated everything seemed normal with Elphaba. Her eyes were occupied with grading the papers for her Animal history lecture. But Fiyero saw the darkness in her eyes when her gaze met his briefly. It was a darkness only Fiyero could bring out in her. He would be absolutely in for it when he got home that evening. And Oz above he was looking forward to it

Not in the Wizard’s vision of Oz. The Gale force also acting as a secret police force of sorts. Snapping up any dissenting Animals or those who tried to flee to the places beyond Oz. It was soul sucking work and against everything Fiyero had ever stood for. Which was why five months ago he had made a decision. The first real decision he had ever made in his life. He became a double agent for the Wicked Witch of the West.

Suddenly she was being picked up off the ground like she weighed nothing. She was unceremonially tossed to the ground with a huff. Elphaba tried to pull herself back up off the forest floor.Glancing behind her, she made eye contact with the lustful gaze of Fiyero Tigelaar.

"Fae," Fiyero murmurs softly. His eyes have widened considerably. She panics.
"I'm sorry," she blurts out. "I shouldn't have suggested that. I just thought since you've slept with so many people, what's one more? But that was totally inappropriate of me." She moves to put her things away, feeling she's ruined their study night. She's stopped by Fiyero's hand placed on her arm. She looks at the limb in surprise, before looking up. His expression is serious and focused.
"Stop, please Elphaba. Do I get to answer?"

Elphaba glances through the glass and then does a double take, surprised to see Fiyero bent over something in a beaker, being heated by a flame. She stares for a moment longer, trying to come up with any reason he would be here so late. But then he glances up as though sensing her gaze on him, and Elphaba darts away.
She’s only a dozen paces further down the hall when she’s stopped in her tracks by an unexpected flash of light and the sounds of glass shattering. She turns back and freezes, listening: nothing but the sound of her heart beating in her own ears, and she nearly leaves after all. But then the stillness is broken by the sounds of Fiyero cursing in an impressive number of very creative ways.
In which a small mistake in the chemistry lab drastically changes the trajectory of Elphaba and Fiyero's relationship at Shiz.

In a movement faster than Elphaba can react, Galinda slides the doors open and with surprising strength, shoves Elphaba into the closet.
"What-" is all Elphaba gets out before the closet slides shut and the suitcase is back in front of the door. She immediately starts trying to slide the door back open, but it doesn't budge. She lets out a huff, giving up.
"Looks like we're the catch of the day."
Elphaba lets out a startled yell at the sound of Fiyero's voice and quickly realizes that he's in the corner of the closet. He gives her a small wave.
She starts banging on the closet door. "Galinda, this isn't funny! Let us out!"
"Not until you make up, and become friends," Galinda tells her loudly through the door. "I'm going out for two hours. There's snacks in there if you get hungry."

ORElphaba and Fiyero get locked in the closet together as part of Galinda's plan to make them like each other. It backfires.

His hand comes up and holds her cheek. When he does things like that, he can see that feral, defensive part of her brain weaken. “What’s worrying you, Fae?” he mumbles, and there’s so much love in the way she stares back at him that he can almost feel her walls shake.
She takes a deep breath. “I’m scared that… that you won’t like it. And then where would that leave us?”
