Ned had known that this day would come. He had six children, each as beautiful and wonderful as the last, of course it would come eventually. It had come for his own father; had crashed into him with all the strength and terribleness of a winter gale, and into his father’s father before him, and his father’s father’s father before that. And on and on. A father’s curse, as terrible as the blessing of children was a delight.
He had known it would come, but he had thought he would have more time. He had thought it would come from another child, at another time. He hadn't thought it would come from his Robb, and he certainly hadn't expected it to take the form of a shy, rosy cheeked girl.
