“Ladies.” Nanook’s gaze shifts to the escorts. “My partner and I need to discuss business. I promise it will put you to sleep.”
Uncertain giggles follow, but even civilians are capable of reading the room. Scrambling for their things, the women slip past security, Khaslana trailing behind with his head ducked low.
“Not you.”
Nanook’s voice stops Khaslana mid-step. He turns on his heel, a polite smile in place. “Would you like another round, sir?”
The corners of Nanook’s mouth lift.
“Stay,” he says smoothly. “For entertainment.”
Nanook enlists Zephyro's help in recruiting Khaslana, a vigilante turned government agent, to the syndicate. Zephyro assumes they'll use brute force, Nanook has something different in mind.

“Nothing that concerns you,” Xiao interrupts, quite bluntly. And the moment is gone. “I’ll call for you when it’s ready.”
Zhongli is merely a lawyer who frequently visits the coffee shop down the street from his office. Xiao is merely a barista working at that same coffee shop. One of these statements is not entirely true.

Jing Yuan grabs Dan Heng’s arm and drags him off to the back of the bar without another word, walking quickly as he dodges patrons with easy familiarity. As Dan Heng’s sudden and visceral rage is wearing off, his mind starts to clear and he realises what’s just happened.
“Did you just call him A-Wen?”
Jing Yuan makes sure the bathroom door closes before he sighs. “I did, and you just foiled my evening plans and almost assaulted an innocent man.”
“No,” Dan Heng says.
“Yes,” Jing Yuan corrects.
Dan Heng accidentally cockblocks Jing Yuan at the local bar in the middle of his hook up.
