Summary
Rocky lived his happily ever after with Grace and Adrian. Until he died. And then woke up a week before the Blip A was meant to launch. He makes a few last minute changes.
Eva Stratt is not having a good day. It was hard enough dealing with the aliens trying to eat her sun. Now she has to deal with the other aliens that know much more about her and Earth than she's comfortable with. And they also claim to have the answer to the Astrophage problem, provided she's willing to hand Ryland Grace to them.
Grace wishes he could stop getting 'promoted' with no option to say no. At least his new job has better hours, if you could ignore the whole being stuck in space on an alien vessel thing.

People died when Buffy failed. Jesse, Principal Flutie, Fritz, Morgan, Kevin. The names came to her mind, too many and too fast for her to process them. And those where the ones she had actually met. What about the ones vampires had killed because she had been too busy ‘having a life’ to catch on patrol, too slow to stake?
There isn’t a single word written in her test. She had already failed, because Ms. Yung is in front of her, taking her paper, which meant that time was over for her. She has failed, and Buffy knows it won’t be the last time.
Failing twice is a privilege, especially when the blood that pays for her mistakes isn’t hers.

Summary
Rocky was everywhere in those months. Translating, explaining, checking on Grace between meetings, settling beside him on the beach in the evenings with the comfortable familiarity of someone who had been doing exactly this for years. Which he had. Which was normal. Which was what Grace had.
Then the meetings got longer. Then Rocky started coming to the beach less. Then there were days Grace didn’t see him at all, just received a brief communication through the translator system — Rocky is in conference, will check on Grace later — and later became the next morning, and the morning after that.
Grace told himself this was fine.

"Mm. Okay." Grace watches him shuffle in place for a moment, claws tapping. "Can tell Rocky anyway. Is not rude if us. Few boundaries now."
"Yeah," he concedes. "Few boundaries now." He allows the blanket to slip over the curve of his shoulder so his wings might stretch out, feathers trembling and shivering at their tips.
