The boys become fast friends, and in a whirlwind, Saeko and Kojiro are frequent guests. And at least as often, Mayuko and Kaoru visit the Nanjo household. It’s such a relief that Mayuko doesn’t think twice about it, and every mention of Kojiro from her son, every play date, brings a smile to her face.
Kojiro is such a sweet—and yes, excitable—boy, happy and bubbly every time he’s near Kaoru, no matter what mood Kaoru brings to him. Saeko says they’re a perfect pair, like the summer breeze and the mercurial sea.
The fantasy doesn’t last, though, because there is one persistent, unending problem.
