The Nein were a very close group who gave touch and affection without a second thought. Usually it was a refreshing change of pace from the reserved and stuffy environments that I was used to in the dynasty; even with my own general repulsion for physical contact usually if through clothes it's fine, enjoyable even and it doesn't come with the same discomfort as skin to skin touches. Unfortunately today I could already tell that a layer of clothing wasn’t going to matter.

Tim considers the necklace in Bruce's hands, before narrowing his eyes. “This is for a girl,” he says flatly, and Bruce tries not to wince. Yes it is, but doesn’t Tim–? Has he misjudged the situation after all?
Useless words try to escape his mouth–‘It’s okay to be a girl, you know’ fighting with ‘Well, boys can wear pendants, too.’ None of them feel right and probably none of them are helpful.
“It was my mother’s,” Bruce says instead.

“You can do whatever- Use whatever you want on me.” Kon stuttered, hoping Tim wouldn’t catch it. He needed to get this under control, it was starting to spiral.

He stops, closing his eyes, inhaling, then exhaling, opening his eyes again to look at Tim.
“Or… because you are more comfortable being a boy?”
Bruce was hard to read; he always had been.
But over the last 5 months, he had come to learn the subtle differences between his grunts, his silences, his looks, and expressions.
Bruce looked at him in a way that was a mix of when he made conclusions without much evidence and knew it, and when he was disappointed.
It took an exceptionally long time for Tim to figure out the difference between when Bruce was disappointed in Tim, or himself.
He was disappointed in himself.
And Tims silence spoke volume.“What’s your name?”

When Bruce finally brings up the topic of what Tims Robin suit will look like, Tim is excited beyond describable words. Bruce struggles to remind the young girl he had been training that Robin can be a girl, and that Robin can be a female hero as well.
