Malak was intrigued by the girl. She was raised in a mansion, yet she was poor. She was stabbed, burned, and sacrificed by the lady of the house. Malak couldn't help but be angry for the girl. She could've been so much more, she could've been an angel if she wasn't sacrificed.
So, he's going to try his best to help Agatha feel welcome, and maybe even get her to feel a bit of wrath.

After Rapunzel turns down his request for help, Varian returns to Old Corona only to find his father petrified in amber. Devastated, he vows to find a solution himself at the risk of his own health, having already taken ill from the raging blizzard outside. He overworks himself into collapse and is subsequently found by Rapunzel, Eugene and Cassandra, who decide to make things right by looking after him, even with tensions running high between them.
In other words: AU where Varian doesn't go 0-100 and become a villain, and the force of logic is (somewhat) observed because there's no way he ran around in a blizzard by himself and didn't come back at least a little sniffly.

Summary
After their world was shattered by Cassandra's betrayal Eugene, Rapunzel, and Lance return to Corona only to find the kingdom devoid of its usual life. Finding out the Saporians took over the throne certainly wasn't the welcome home they were expecting. It was up to them to once again save the day— or, rather, the kingdom in this case— and put the criminals back in the deepest pits of the dungeon where they belong. The fact that Eugene could barely even recall who the Saporians even were made him confident it would be easy to put a stop to their takeover. It's just one more mess to clean up before they could finally try to settle down to process all the chaos they suffered through in the Dark Kingdom. Of course, things could never be that easy. He really should have known better. Finding out Varian was working with the Separatists made things infuriatingly complicated but it was finding out how they treated the alchemist that sent everything Eugene thought he knew up in flames. No amount of resentment he harbored for Varian could make Eugene stand by and let Varian suffer like this at Andrew's hands. Actually, he was beginning to question if he still had any anger left.

Hugo; The trusted Equerry of the Prince, best friend of the Prince, son of Captain Donella of the royal guard, and he has a few problems too. Something he had wanted since he was young isn’t super appealing anymore. Now all he wants is a life of adventure, and of Varian.

The blonde smiled and nodded, “Rodger that. Captain.” And stilled himself as best he could. His eyes stuck down to the water to try and spot the fishes coming their way.
It took a moment of silence before he felt something. Something cold and much more solid graze the side of his left ankle. The sudden surprise almost made him start to squeal out of fear. But Pairo’s hand held firm against his wrist. A large grin across his face.
