Hajime has an odd request for his dear friend:
"Can you hold my hand?"
Minoru pauses mid-writing. The amount of filled pages on his lap could have easily been mistaken for a novel. Furrows his eyebrows, Hajime given a questioning look, but it's not immediately scornful or disgusted.
"May I ask why?"
He shrugs. Struggles to keep his trademark smile alive under the pressure of his racing heart.
"I've never held someone's hand before. No one wants to."

"Are you happy?"
Hajime's not smiling as he walks away.
Forces Noriyuki to think about his own question as a star falls from the sky, disappearing behind the trees into the darkness to be seen next moonrise. He'll be found in the interview room with a cup of hot chocolate in his hand, conversing happily with the moon that eclipses his guiding light. Projects his own. Fake light in a cave.
"Are you happy?"
Breathes in the autumn fog, coughs out the ice in his throat. It might start hailing, the way the drops impale him, and lets the pain wash over his frame like it'll rid him of his sins.
Kicks at the freshly laid dirt and the worms he crushes under his feet. Fiddles with the unlit cigarette in his hand.
"Are you happy?"
