Namely, the inhibitor chips wear out, breaking down faster the more they were used.
So, since he'd become rather accustomed to CC-1010 following him down to his Sith lair in the Senate whenever he wanted to give the trooper a mission, he didn't think twice about turning his back to the clone trooper and checking the reports Dooku had sent him regarding the war and the construction of his Sith empire.
Worst (and last) mistake of his life.

Summary
Mand'alor the Reluctant, a moniker given to him by those who have the birthright for the title of Mand'alor. Bo-Katan of House Kryze has given it to Din to spite him for his inaction towards retaking their homeland. Boba Fett of Clan Vhett, given to him in jest during a celebration between Din, Boba, and Fennec. But to Din, it was a reminder of doing better for his weird green child.
The Reformer, a title once held by Jaster Mereel whose rule was cut too short by an extremist. In his short reign, he was close to uniting Madalore under one leadership.
Through the machinations of the force, both leaders of different times meet. Some say the force wanted to give their people the chance to make some changes. Din thinks the force was bored.

Din saves Jaster Mereel on Korda VI, both being mostly confused and a bit enamoured. Ben Kenobi- now back to being tiny Obi-Wan is also confused, but most importantly he is determined:

The Olden Way held different values from most Resol’nare. Their Creed kept their Ways close, they kept their secrets with their lives. It was difficult to find information on them because they themselves were hard to find. They were ghosts.
The only reason Jaster knew that much was because one of his closer Verde was once of a Covert. His Creed was broken and while he sought Redemption to return in the beginning, he found his soulmate who was not of his Creed.
“Olden Way or not, our tendons have granted him the life debt of my ad and me. One for saving his life, and one because I failed to be there to protect it.” Jaster muttered. “We’ll find him.”
