You don't know why, out of all the places he could go, Sollux would show up at your hive when in distress, and he very clearly is. Maybe it was just the closest? That still doesn't seem like a good explanation, but it's the best you have.

"Yeah I know," Sollux says on his way out, his apathy making your brow furrow.

You whip around to protest, threaten, beg, whatever you need to do to stop him from telling everybody, but the words die in your throat when you see him.

Summary
Sollux has to fall in love with Eridan.
Falling in love with Eridan is his only shot to a good life, Sollux has considered every possibility. Unless he wants to try his luck as a less (or potentially more) filthy hermit outlaw, he needs another highblood that's going to take him away from all this. It doesn't take a genius to put the blocks together, either.
It's not like he's forcing himself to do anything he doesn't want to do. This is about life and death; he’s thinking about his future.
