Isaac shrugs, his eyes fixed on Jamie and Celia’s table. “She hits when she gets angry.”

Summary
Sometimes it feels like the universe gave him Jamie. A mirror into his younger idiot self. A chance to learn some hard lessons and be a better person, usually, for them, a chance to pass on some hard-won wisdom and set Jamie up, hopefully, for avoiding some of Roy’s old mistakes.
A budding generational talent to prop up Roy’s first season as manager, the glue that binds the team together, and he’s spoiled for it and taking still more because Christ, how is he supposed to turn away what Jamie’s so eager to offer?
He’s a brute, the worst sort of sleaze in professional sports, but it’s just so fucking easy.

“Sorry,” Sounds more like sorreh, “can you uh, stitch me back up again?” Roy can now see the large gash across his stomach and the cut on his jaw. He hisses through his teeth and winces in solidarity with the man. Roy just stares at him. Spiderman cocks his head and puts a hand on his hip as if to say well?
“Yeah yeah, come on then.” Spiderman trails after him, thankfully not dripping blood on the wood floors. Though Roy thinks he wouldn’t mind cleaning up the mess. “Spidertwat.” Spiderman laughs at that.

“Roy, I’ll always be underpaid, no amount of money can pay for the miracles I perform on that pitch,” Jamie brags with his free hand on his chest, Roy looks at him the whole time like he wants to murder him “This is just some therapy shit, or summat.”
“What is therapeutic about taking fucking pictures?” Roy asks him entirely confused instead of his regular angry.
“I don’t know, you tell me,” Jamie responds and seems lost in thought.

Summary
“What the fuck is this? What are you doing here?” Roy asked after what seemed quite some time with his eyes squinted, like he wasn’t about to go meet Jamie at his house himself.
Jamie gives a small easy laugh and offers the bouquet he was holding to Roy, who recoils, still not sure this wasn’t a crazy deathtrap.
“Hey, calm down, old man, this isn’t the war, it’s just some lilies,” Jamie still holds out the flowers and tries to get them closer to Roy who still flinches back “Lilies are cute pretty flowers, they’re no harm, don’t worry.”
Roy still raised an eyebrow at him and Jamie rolled his eyes and brought the flowers close to his own face and gave them a good whiff.
“See? Not dead, no need to worry, okay?” Jamie says offering the bouquet back to Roy who reluctantly accepts after a couple of seconds, smelling it tentatively. It was a nice smell. I mean, all flowers kind smelled like funerals in some way or another, but these were nice.

So if he didn’t bring a guest, he’d be stuck at a table with Keeley and her new girlfriend, Ted with Sassy, and Rebecca. Rebecca and Sassy were okay—except in a show of solidarity with Keeley, Rebecca didn’t really talk to him anymore and Sassy was a bit much after a few drinks. He couldn’t imagine spending the entire night with that group and staying sane. Plus, showing up without a date gave the impression that he hadn’t moved on yet. Normally, he didn’t give a fuck about what impression he gave, but he didn’t want to look like the fucking pathetic, lonely wanker that he was. He couldn’t think of anybody he could invite—or would even want to invite—but there was one person who would probably find it just as tedious and awkward.
And, even better, Roy could make him go.
(Or Roy will take any excuse to ask Jamie on a date even though he's not ready to admit to himself if he wants to go on a date with Jamie)

Roy rolls his eyes.
"Everyone mind your fucking business," he shouts, not looking back at the rowdy bunch of them, "or I'm taking away the open bar at the holiday party on Tuesday and you're all staying fucking sober!"

“It’s alright,” Roy tried, fumbling, frantic for the right thing to say. It wasn’t alright. If it were alright, Jamie wouldn’t be heavy and needy in his arms, sucking on Roy's neck and trying to attach himself like he was afraid Roy was going to push him away at any moment. “Got you, baby.”
Jamie tensed, and Roy felt a curious chill when Jamie lifted his head, red-rimmed eyes blinking and wary. His arm automatically tightened, holding Jamie to him when it felt like all of his muscles were ready to spring into action, and he brushed his thumb over the high, flushed ridge of his cheek, gathering the liquid and then–for no reason Roy could even fathom much less explain–he brought the taste of Jamie’s tears to his own tongue. Jamie’s lips parted in a silent gasp, the color on his cheeks deepening, his wet eyes turning black as his pupils expanded.

“Fucking gorgeous.” Roy breathes, and Jamie’s eyes snap open. He instantly feels his ears heat as the way Roy’s gaze moved, transfixed over his body. His hands reach out, fingertips barely grazing the edge of the lace, and Jamie’s whole body shivers, nerves set alight by the careful touch.
“You think so?” The words have scarcely left Jamie’s mouth before Roy’s eyes tear away from his chest, meeting Jamie’s. His breath catches in his throat at the intensity of the stare.
