Summary
Fall, 1967. In the quiet chaos of Sugar and Spellcraft Bakery, Walburga Black lay dead on the floor, her life ending at precisely 2:47 PM. Her sons, Sirius and Regulus, stand over her lifeless body, their reactions as different as night and day: one masked in cold fury, the other trembling with barely contained grief. He remembers the story. How can he not? But it’s fragmented and jumbled in his head, blurring with what he knows of this life and the details he does recall don’t concern him.
There’s only so much one can remember about a book read a lifetime ago.
