Daniel had somehow just assumed that the whole world-falling-away-thing was the one thing that was specific to his bond with Armand. Had assumed that the other weird shit was just run-of-the-mill maker-fledgling stuff.
But you know what they say about assumptions – they make an ass out of U and... Well, they’d mostly led to Daniel making an ass out of himself in front of every other vampire he encountered, really.
In which Daniel assumes all the weird shit he’s experiencing regarding Armand are perfectly normal maker-fledgling bond things, and it’s up to everyone else to disabuse him of that notion.

It took less than two seconds after Armand had closed his eyes for their minds to find each other and crash together, Daniel’s presence washing over Armand’s like a tumultuous wave, comingling with his own.
He couldn’t see his boy or hear his thoughts, but he could feel him. All of him.
And he could feel Daniel feeling him, welcoming him, pressing his consciousness up against Armand’s. It warmed Armand’s long-dead soul like the sun or a fresh kill after a long fast.
In which Armand feels Daniel just as intensely as Daniel feels him.

“Shut up, you love it,” Assad says, then he bats his eyes. “And you think I’m pretty.”
“Of course, I think you’re pretty. Everyone thinks you’re pretty.”
Assad glances off to the side, still grinning, looking at something—or someone—out of frame. “You know who else is pretty and British?”
Eric narrows his eyes at the screen and watches as the second person wanders over, fresh out of the shower with damp curls and a towel slung low around his hips.

Summary
The building, for better or for worse (more so the latter), is a time capsule. Creaking open the front office door startles the young man behind the counter. His large, dark eyes tear themselves away from the magazine in his hands, and he quickly swings his feet off the desk and onto the floor. For posterity, Daniel pretends he doesn’t see the desktop computer hastily shoved under the table.
“Good evening, Sir,” he begins. “Checking in?” A piece of gum flashes bright pink between his teeth as he speaks. He’s a cute young thing, likely college-aged, clad in a brown suede vest with a tight-fitting striped shirt that ends at his elbows. He toys with one of his two necklaces, sliding the charm back and forth along the chain.
And that’s all it takes. Daniel wants him; he’s decided. He’ll do whatever it takes to get in his pants tonight.
