Macaque thought it'd be fun to go to a party to make Wukong mad, however ever since MK and Mei were able to persuade him to go, they keep trying to get him to come to more. Even when he says no, he always ends up running into Wukong anyway.

Macaque went to bed, and woke up to stars in the sky, soft grass against his back, and his hand in Wukong’s firm, comforting grip.
This was a dream, of course it was.
(Wukong hadn’t looked at him like that — so openly loving and fond — in a long time.
The real, present Wukong would only look at him with jeering, mocking contempt, to which Macaque would return with an equally mocking smirk that twitched with seething rage.)
