AHHHHHHHHH I don't usually like reader/character fics but pleasantly surprised to see it's not a big focus and on the sweeter side well bittersweet kalim thinks Yuu can treat Jamil well like he's thinking bout Jamil the entire fic and not himself bcos he's alw been replaceable if not him another sibling oh my heart then just ignoring his reality and blindly trusting so he doesn't have to think bout how ppl esp those close to him want to kill him oh my baby stop being blase with ur death. He's just so traumatized throughout this but I feel like this is probably pretty close to canon kalim with how he ignores stuff and goes the opposite direction of blind trust instead of being skeptical and the way he rationalizes everything just so it'll be fine he's trying his best to fix it but best isn't alw enough esp when uve nvr actl had power over it in the first place (also love that helplessness when Jamil was poisoned that is such a painful realization to have tho). The ending is just gut wrenching tho punches me straight in the heart and I keep rereading for that punch my emotional masochist is kicking in hard not as hard as this is kicking me in the feels tho- In a twisted way it's rather ironic that the person Jamil is constantly valued as nothing in comparison to by everyone around him values himself as nothing and Jamil as everything, I also love that codependency and the way he just forgives and gives everything bcos he does do that and its vry concerning- Back to the ending kalim sort of replacing himself with Yuu for Jamil and treating it like a better replacement is just ow rip my heart out why don't u meanwhile kalim himself refuses to replace Jamil god the self esteem is so low it physically hurts then Jamil being horrified and kalim not understanding why and blaming himself oh it hurts so good why is that the exact angst I loveee why do the kalim writers alw make him think it'd be better to not exist for Jamil stop treating urself like dirt I beg oh the angst is so so good I'm in pain and so in love
