Images of the past few weeks float through his head. Laughing together as they tried a new recipe every night, taking turns picking what movie to watch, being cooped up in one of their bedrooms for hours, sometimes all through the night. As far as Elijah could tell, the only intimate thing they were doing in there was enjoying one another’s presence. He hadn’t so much as seen them kiss, even after all this time.
And yet. And yet.
Is it serious? felt like such a small question in contrast to its monumental answer.
Elijah gives her a rueful smile. “Love always is.”

"Hope!" Caroline repeated the girl's name desperately. "What are you doing?!" The numbness in her body was agonizing. It felt like she was disappearing…
"This is our only chance, Caroline," Hope said. She continued preparing to cast the spell. "This is our only chance. My going back in time would ruin everything. It would irrevocably destroy the timeline. But you were there then. Your presence wouldn't ruin everything. On the contrary, it would fix it."
Caroline wasn't doing this willingly. A 500-year-old girl in a 17-year-old body was forcing her to do it. Caroline didn't want to relive those pains, that helplessness, that weakness again.
"You will be strong." Hope said, pausing for a moment. She sensed Caroline's unspoken fear. Her eyes were sincere. Reassuring.
For a moment, Caroline thought it was Klaus, not Hope, looking at her.
