Jamie takes Ted's advice to heart - he forgives. Or he tries to. But it doesn't make things better. It doesn't free him from anything, and the text he sent his father makes everything so much worse, even though it hasn't been answered yet. When Jamie reaches his breaking point, he goes through a series of three conversations, seeking help determining whether something is wrong with him, whether it's okay to not forgive, and whether it's okay to decide that he's done trying.

Summary
Hannibal was asleep, and without the roaring sound of the wind through the open window, Will found the silence and darkness unsettling. He turned the radio on, listened to the low chatter and tinkling music of a late night talk show mix with Hannibal’s gentle, sleeping breathing and the hum of tires. A role reversal, Will thought, remembering the times he was weak and sick and Hannibal had driven him home on cold black nights.
Post-S3 finale, where Hannibal and Will head to Bedelia's house after they pull themselves out of the ocean.

He pauses here, and Jamie raises an eyebrow. His emergency contact? He’d probably filled out some joke response last time, hadn’t he. Fucking Queen of England, Boris Johnson’s wife, something good.
“Oi, let’s see it then,” and Higgins passes over the paper like it’s a live bomb, and Jamie scans down to where he sees his own handwriting sitting over a few dotted lines, and, well. It sure ain’t the Queen.
or: Jamie goes through a series of unfortunate events, changes his emergency contact a few times, and considers the possibility that maybe, actually, letting other people help isn’t all bad after all.
