The Erdtree burns gold on the horizon. The call of Grace pulls at his chest like a fishhook. The locals are hostile, the wildlife is worse, and the item descriptions are frankly insulting.
He'll meet a merchant who plays the lute, a maiden with one amber eye, a spirit horse with opinions, a seamster, and a scholar. He'll fight crabs the size of wagons, and demigods.
He is not Anakin Skywalker. Or Azor Ahai. He is not even especially clever. He cannot read most of the item descriptions and understands fewer.
But he gets up. Every time.

Summary
Touch with Jon is so strange, so dear. She feels it like a living thing, a physical thing - this need to feel him, to grab him, to touch him, always. To make sure he’s there; to feel him there. No matter how difficult it is with him, it is always such a relief to have him with her. It’s like she wants him to crawl beneath her skin, settle inside her; another heart, so similar and yet so starkly different, beating in sync with hers.
Her eyes are still closed as he continues: ‘’It’s you and me now. We have to trust each other. We can’t fight a war amongst ourselves. We have so many enemies now.’’ For a moment there is only silence then, until finally, Jon continues - finishes, she can tell - voice darker, deeper: ‘’Do not hide things from me again.’’
She sighs. Squeezes him a bit, just a bit; ‘’Listen to me.’’ he squeezes her back, so strong and yet so gentle. Contained. She longs to wrap herself around him.
They remain as they are.

He never expected to ever come back. In fact, he expected to die there. But instead, his exhibition brings him face-to-face with magic more ancient than the First Men.
He kneels before a heart tree and begs for the life of the woman he loved the most. The woman whose heart he pierced with a dagger. But instead, he opens his eyes, and lying in front of him is a wailing child, with silver-blond hair and lilac eyes. A child that would have been born had he not plunged a knife through her heart.
But that is only the beginning.
As Jon navigates fatherhood alone, he discovers new things about himself and uncovers ancient secrets about a foe he thought once vanquished, all while the realm is on the brink of collapse once more, and in the East, a dragon has awoken and thirsts for Fire and Blood.

His hand finds Missandei's smaller ones, tugs until she gives in and steps closer, until their bodies are flush with one another and his other hand sneaks around her back; ignoring Cersei's delighted laugh and the anguished scream that can only belong to Daenerys, he finally blinks his eyes open and smiles at how quickly the laughter dies. Cersei is staring at him, shocked, and he glares at her in return.
They should know whom to blame when the sky falls down upon them, Daenerys said once. Oh, they would, he agrees.
"Dracarys," falls from his lips, the first word in days, possibly his last one, indeed, just as he turns and throws himself and Missandei over the edge.
And the world explodes.

“Are there other dragons about?” It wasn’t a rhetorical or teasing question, but a man asking how many enemies were around him.
“No, uh. No. I just… I saw it crash into the ground and— wait, you crashed with it?” Hiccup suddenly realized. “What were you doing with that dragon?!”
Stoick leaned back from Hiccup just long enough to raise his axe. “What do you think I was trying to do, boy?”

Jon Snow finds himself with inexplicable visions and maddening memories of white hair and purple eyes as he is pushed south by events he wishes he could control.
A grand plan has been set forth. The horns have been blown.
Armies will be mustered. Blood and tears shall flow like rivers. Wars without equals shall be waged. In the end, only ashes and shadows will remain.
Basically, Jon gets visions of the future and memories of past Targaryens and suddenly finds himself embroiled within not only the fate of the known world, but within the fates of all those he loves and cares for.

“No.” His father confirmed. “House Roxton is a noble house of the Reach, sworn to Highgarden and House Tyrell. If memory serves, Ser Lorence squired for Ser Arys Oakheart, now of the Kingsguard.”
