Guilt is such a powerful emotion. It can tear apart alliances, forge enemies, push people so far.
Guilt forced Anakin to the far rim of the Galaxy. He was certain no Jedi had or would venture this far, in fact, he wasn't even certain he was still within the Galaxy.
His mother was dead, her murderers slaughtered at his hands. It wasn't enough. Anakin had craved blood. To take and take and take until the empty chasm his mother's death had left had been filled.
It hadn't been enough.
So when Duke Leto Atreides offers Anakin a second chance to fight for a brighter future, in which he would be able to return home safely with the promise that he'd made an impact on this Galaxy for the better, Anakin took it eagerly.
When Paul Atreides, the Duke's only son, has his life threatened, Leto immediately consults in the hands of his most trusted Knight, Anakin.
Anakin was unaware at the time but this one choice would spark the flame that set alight an alliance of a lifetime, and a doorway to an entire new generation of possibility, including the family's embark to Arrakis and the destruction of the Emperor at the hands of Muad D'ib and Lord Vader, and the beginning of a new era for the Empire.

I don't know what possessed me to write this at 9am but if people like it I will write more of this ship.
I'm still updating the tags (idk how to tag) but it's set on Caladan, I'm trying to develops my storyline to somewhat fit canon compliant, just change it a bit. So let's say this is set AFTER Paul has been exiled, but also somehow this universe coincides with JUST after Anakin has become a Sith Lord, without the battle on Mustafar. I'm still working out the exact logistics but I'll let you all know when I've figured it out.

Guilt is such an emotion whereby the mind and body alike are consumed entirely.
Anakin had killed his mother's murderers. Revenge had driven him, he was certain of that now. But he hadn't stopped there. Innocents slaughtered at his hands, mercilessly, children and soldiers alike.
He couldn't return to the council like this. He would relocate. Leave the system. Far out enough that no Jedi nor Senator would find him. He left them all behind, the Council, Coruscant, Padme, the last of which hurt him most. He needed time to reflect. To atone for his crimes.
He touched down on an unknown planet covered in lakes and beautiful mountains. He was given a second chance. A chance to serve and become a fearless warrior once again, this time in the path of a greater man with a plan to unite planets and people.
Duke Leto took Anakin in as if he was his own. His task? Protect his son.
Paul Atreides had been dreaming. Visions, he insisted they were. Visions of Anakin swallowed up by flames, swallowed up by greed, power, love, anger. Emotions would be his downfall, if Paul failed to save him himself.
