Summary
A look into Ewen Montagu’s life. Trials, tribulations, friendship, and of course—eventually—love.
At age 8, Ewen Montagu is not yet Ewen Montagu. He’s uncomfortable in his body, but he isn’t quite sure why yet. Also he has bigger fish to fry because his baby sister was just born and she is royally messing up his life.
At age 8, Ewen Montagu meets Charles Cholmondeley in the park. Ewen is the first person outside of Charles’ family that Charles ever hugs.
At age 8, Ewen Montagu gets lost in the city of Oxford and is rescued by a pair of Oxford University students who don’t know it yet, but will really love him one day.
At age 8, Ewen Montagu’s life is about to change for the better.

Summary
Charles bought his camera two weeks after Mincemeat was approved.
He had wanted a camera for a while, mostly for the purpose of taking pictures of birds and insects and reptiles he saw strolling around London and when he managed to venture out into the countryside, but, of course, the timing made them intrinsically intertwined with the operation. As the way so many parts of his life had suddenly become.
It was, of course, something that also became intrinsically intertwined with his increasingly unsettling relationship with Ewen Montagu.

Summary
Ewen Montagu is fifteen when he meets the new couple who just moved into the little cottage in the countryside near his family's manor. It's here that he first meets an adult who actually sees him for who he is and doesn't immediately turn away from the truth. At nineteen, Hester Leggatt finally convinces him to attend one of her weekly meetings. There he introduces himself to Charles Cholmondeley, who he immediately decides is an asshole.
Charles hadn't meant to insult the new boy, and he certainly hadn't meant to find him so impossibly attractive. He has no idea how to fix the damage he's done, but he suddenly finds he wants nothing more than to understand the politician's son that Jean Leslie insists is a complete and utter prick.
