She’s one year away from graduating from art school, living in her parent’s basement on the weekend, and hopelessly in love with Mikey.
When she’s in the drugstore picking up eyeliner, Gee pauses in the aisle with pink boxes screaming “super extra” and “ultra absorbent”. She counts back the days and nearly pukes right there on the floor of the shitty neighborhood Rite Aide as a realization comes to her.

Flint parks his bike in the back next to Miranda’s de-badged Subaru and sits for a moment.
It’s humid and warm. Frogs croak and crickets are screaming in the trees around the little house. From the detached garage he can see the soft light of the kitchen filtering through the floral curtains. (Miranda had hated them, but put them up anyway. It wasn’t until months later Flint realized they reminded her of before.)
Technically takes place before "It's a Long Way to Richmond", but the two story lines are mostly separate enough it doesn't matter which one you read first.
