Summary

When a chance meeting at the animal shelter crosses their paths, something unexpected carries between them, like a call, waiting to be answered.
*This work is a remix/ heavily inspired by Wolfbird (OpalApparition), including people and locations. In my mind, a “what could have happened if they met in a different way and made different choices.” It’s sweet, has (mostly/eventual) soft landings, and features many puppies who absolutely did not ask to be a part of this, and one very dramatic chiweenie who did.

Summary
Life feels so chaotic for Shane sometimes, with all the loud noises and the unwritten rules he’s expected to follow, even though no one ever taught them to him. It’s why the bookstore feels more like home to him than anywhere else in Boston. It doesn’t ask Shane to be anything other than himself. Doesn’t ask for any more than he can give.
He can just exist here.
Shane likes slow, likes taking his time. And Ilya - without saying or doing anything in particular - makes Shane feel like that’s okay. Like he isn’t doing anything wrong by standing still sometimes.
(Or, Shane works in a bookstore, Ilya plays hockey, and they both go to the same college. They fall in love in every universe.)

“I have been thinking about you in your glasses since the day I video call you,” Ilya growls, his accent and dick thickening in tandem.
An electric jolt shoots from Shane’s ears down to his groin.
“Yeah?” Shane prods, voice breathy and brain dumb as he struggles to hold himself together with Rozanov’s mouth and hands absolutely everywhere but his dick.
“Yes,” Ilya says, pulling back to appraise Shane’s flush behind his glasses, loving how literally anything his face does makes his freckles stand out even more. “Mm, you look like slutty nerd.”
“Who the hell teaches you about this stuff?” Shane murmurs half-heartedly.
Shane learns how deep Ilya's affinity for him in his glasses truly runs.
