“Hey. Uhh…” He says, voice quiet, “I’m sorry.” He doesn’t specify what for, but Gaz assumes it might be for the entire night. The awkwardness. Not visiting as much as they both should.
It’s too emotional. She shuts that down immediately. “No, no, it’s fine. I had fun,” She manages to smile, “dinner was good.”
“Oh,” Dib nods, “okay.”
They hug, and wave, and promise to see each other more often.
Then Gaz is standing outside, wondering where her life is going.”
In which Gaz gets integrated into Dib’s found family arc through sheer force of will (and a bit of whiskey).
