The question came out frank, rushed, and frantic and nearly made John choke on his drink, the sizzle of soda making the miscalculation burn something fierce. He managed to swallow, clearing his throat a few times before beginning to formulate a response.
He settled on a full, resounding, “What?”

Rose Tyler is invited to a holiday party and, not wanting to go it alone, asks her best friend to pretty please tag along. John, wanting for her to be happy, allows his heart to be played like a fiddle.

“You don’t like your eyebrows?”
He paused and blinked at her, surprised that out of all of the scientific explanations, all the descriptions of the alien landscape he was taking her to, and all the little quips he’d tossed at her (the ones that either landed light or cut too deep without him knowing the difference), that THAT was what she was fixated on. Actual interesting information was put to the side because for some reason an offhanded comment about local etiquette, and how his eyebrows were not conducive to being perceived as friendly was what was important to Clara Oswald.
OR
The Doctor makes an offhanded remark (insult) about his eyebrows and Clara does not like his tone one bit

Summary
A breeze passed through him, bringing him back to his cold sopping wet present and he grimaced at his own lack of foresight. Not exactly a new phenomenon but at the current moment it was a character trait he was not very fond of.
There were a lot of character traits that landed him here that he was not very fond of.
The sensation of something thumping against his knee however brought him out of that rabbit hole before it could start.
“Well, hello,” the Doctor said, unable to mask his surprise. “You’re rather friendly, aren’t you?”

After running out of the Temple-Noble household in an attempt to cope with some poorly timed unwanted memories, the Doctor makes a friend.

“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Rose was sure the ground she was standing in had melted with how quickly her face had warmed. She stilled, eyes blown wide, lips open, but unable to let a sound out of them.
He pulled away to look at her. His eyes were half lidded and his smile bright. His hair was slightly mussed, and his cheeks, she noticed despite her attempts not to, were pleasantly rosy.
It made his freckles stand out.
OR
After partying with the Tyler family the Doctor is sufficiently cheery and sufficiently inebriated and nobody trusts him to safely make it to the TARDIS. Rose, only marginally more sober, walks him back, trying hard not to think too hard about how touchy the alcohol's made him.

The boys' wrestling team knew him as the coach who had accidentally embarrassed their own coach during a demonstration match.And the girls' wrestling team? The girls' wrestling team seemed to know everything. Or at least they acted like they did.

"Grace, question?” Rocky says from his tunnel.
“Yeah?” I peek my head up, wiping nonexistent dust off my pants. The storage compartment was almost completely sterile, but I needed something to do with my hands.
“All okay, question?” There’s a slight quiver in the notes of his voice that I’ve come to recognize as hesitance.
“Of course, buddy.” I laugh disbelievingly, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
Ryland finds Yao’s gun and he is perfectly normal about it, thank you very much. He’s only been stuck in the same environment eating the same meals everyday for a year now. He’s fine.

Summary
“Is okay Grace, just eat, then sleep, you feel better, then we fix food.” He soothes, and goes back to that same low pitch sound, it’s him just rambling about what he can but it’s in a range that makes me feel instantly calm.
He thinks I’m sick again, for me that was a couple of years ago, so much time for me has passed for me, it was 4.44% of my life ago, for him it was only 1% of his life ago, it just happened to him, the worry and panic may not have even left his nervous system. He also knows so little about humans, maybe with the short space in between he didn’t even have a moment to realize the problem was fixed.
Aka Grace is not sick just bad at eating and Rocky is very bad at copeing.

Grace almost jumped at the sound of the other man's voice. He had yet to grow used to the sounds of a human voice that was not his own, it was sure to take a long while until he did. He looked up from his work to the man in his bed only a few feet away. He didn't look frightened this time which was a good sign. He had used his remaining arm to push himself into a sitting position and was looking around the room, his eyes wide in an attempt to memorize every detail.
"You never left," Grace answered, gently.
