Summary
Stratt likes to have contingency plans for her contingency plans, and when Grace mentions an old college buddy of his with a mechanical engineering degree, she does some (less than legal) digging. When she discovers the man's secret identity as a well loved superhero, she figures the Hail Mary can spare some resources for a backup engineer and pilot.
Unfortunately, the guy was already in a medically induced coma after his Mech suit blew up, but. . . That wasn't exactly an issue for them.

Meanwhile, Chase suddenly has custody of a chubby dog after the disappearance of his psuedo-brother, and the sense that something about him vanishing while in a coma was incredibly fishy.

Homelander found himself fighting against it, despite the sweet sensation of serenity. The rate at which he was lulled into a mild trance was almost alarming. He was losing control, eyelids growing heavier by the minute the more he took it all in. For the first time in years, he felt truly relaxed. His mind was entirely blank, Hughie’s soft voice neutralising the venomous thoughts that constantly poisoned his mind. He never would have thought something so simple would give him comfort.
tldr: Homelander discovers Hughie's ASMR channel and becomes obsessed.

Summary
Instead of Harmony, Spike chooses a different blond, talkative, figurine-collecting fledge as his post-Drusilla rebound lay — one who bears an uncomfortable resemblance to the timid, sensitive man Spike used to be. Their meeting pushes Spike towards some unsettling self-realizations about his true feelings for Buffy.
A butterfly flaps its wings (or a twink bats his eyelashes) and the course of history is re-written.
Two chapter update!
Chapter 4: Anya provides some vital intel. A certain ring comes to light. A dance in the sunlight ends in a surprising twist.
Chapter 5: Spike does some (purely metaphorical) soul-searching. Buffy has an existential crisis or two. Joyce moonlights as an honorary PFLAG step-mom.
