Then Lohen said, quieter this time, “Still. Hope.”
Illuga glanced at him.

Summary
While the people of Nod Krai want, Lohen is the only one who needs. Friends and strangers alike shower him in praise, status, gifts, in return for all the good work he does– Lohen takes takes and takes, and what Illuga gets at the end of the day are bites across his body. But the knight doesn’t pretend it’s anything else. His motives aren’t hidden. The exchange doesn’t come with hidden expectations. His ‘rewards’, if something so depraved can even be called as such, are something genuinely tangible, and, as ashamed as Illuga is to say it… useful. Any soothing teas or appreciation gifts haven’t quelled his mind nearly as much as Lohen’s body.
He’s real.
_
Or:
Illuga desperately needs a way to distract himself from the insurmountable stress in his life. Lohen desperately wants someone willing to ruin him without remorse. Predictably, one drags the other down. Only, Lohen never expects that, somehow, Illuga would become worse than him.

Summary
Lohen leaves for a military campaign and they exchange letters with Illuga. It's sad and sometimes not and then sad again
There are so many empty rooms I had to learn to pass by, but there is only this much endurance in one person. I don’t think I have any more left, you know? I can’t even write this letter in one sitting. Every few words I have to look up and force myself to stop tearing up so much because right now I don’t know if that letter still has someone to arrive to.
I hope you’re reading this. And that you think how stupid I was for losing faith in you. I’d gladly be stupid. I never wanted anything more than that.

Grand Master forces me to use the pain scale. I’ll tell you mine. 1-5 I don’t care, I can bear it, I’m just more or less irritated about it. 6 is a broken leg I don’t think I ever experienced. 6.5 is like bleeding out with a chance of fainting. 7 would be Grand Master constantly scolding me for picky eating because he’s a pain in the ass (is his handwriting looking different when I laugh at him?). 8 and 9 I reserved in case these meds stop working and I would need more painkillers. One of the guys from the room recommended it to me.

I should burn this letter. I will burn it. "Love me less." How could I ever say that? And yet I feel as if I ought to.
My love. Sometimes loving you makes me feel like a murderer.
Love me less. Let's spend all our remaining time together. And when that time is up, bury me, mourn me, and then find someone new. Find anyone new. Please.

Summary
“Please,” Flins replies, face half-shadowed beneath the room's dim candlelight. Illuga's focus subconsciously shifts to his slightly narrowed eyes, radiating a gentle glow in the semi-darkness, his pale jade complexion, and the appealing shape of his jawline albeit partially obscured behind his high collar. “It is only thanks to Master Illuga's tremendous skill that I am required to carefully consider each play.”
“Then I am honored to be seen as a worthy opponent by you,” Illuga coolly remarks, though his chest traitorously seizes at the compliment—or is it at the way Flins’ gaze seems to pierce his very being?
It must certainly be the latter, he reasons, because for what other purpose would his heart tremble than to escape the manner in which Flins studies him now, bearing the same weighty stare he uses to appraise a rare gemstone?
Alternatively, Illuga a chances a visit to the Final Night Cemetary after his squad's expedition at Kipumaki Cliff. Though intending to relax, he is instead forced to confront his feelings on the expedition—and Flins—much sooner than he expected.

"Master Illuga," Flins starts. He lifts a hand. Illuga snatches his wrist, halting him.
"How," Illuga asks, "am I meant to understand you, when you're clearly hiding something from me?"
Flins opens his mouth—ready to play ignorant, most likely—in the same instant Illuga determinedly shuts him up, covering that clever mouth with his own.

“How?”
“Well, you see, Master Illuga,” Flins tries to comfort him by intertwining their hands, “When two people love each other very much—”
“I know that!” Illuga interrupts indignantly, though slightly less frantic than before. “I mean, I know that you can change your body at will," as Flins often does, like during their last encounter, "but you are still…?”
“Ah. Despite my preferred apperance, those things are less set in stone for the Fae,” Flins explains. “As life forms created ultimately out of elemental energy, we are less governed by our bodies and biology, but rather by our intentions and wishes. If you remember during our last entanglement, I did express a certain desire in the heat of the moment…”
“So you're saying that… you wanted me to come inside you so much that you became pregnant?”

It couldn’t have been Nagisa — it was just a coincidence. A stranger who oddly sounded just like him. A teenager wouldn’t have been hiding out here, alone.
All his hopes dashed away as bright, red strands came into view.
Nagisa sat there, leaning against the wall with his legs sprawled in front of him. Alone, as he feared. He clutched his arm and furrowed his brow as though he was in pain. His eyes met Kira’s.
“Kira.”
A cough followed, scratchy and rough. Kira felt his stomach drop.

“The Court of the Tsar.” The creature said evenly, pupiless eyes fixed on the ceiling.

As a child, Till wanted to be an escape artist. He knew that it was his responsibility to take note of every door in a room. Every exit. The truth is all there is: Prevention is often the best cure. Like many before him, Till believes in the butterfly effect. An action as minuscule as the flapping of a tiny butterfly’s wings is capable of causing a typhoon elsewhere. If this is the case, the reverse must also be correct. In the right conditions, a displacement as insignificant as a small breeze lifting a leaf must be capable of preventing disaster elsewhere.
If Till taps with the right rhythm, the atoms scattering across his fingers may then affect the motion of others around themselves. Eventually, they will make the walls and their bookshelves steady. Gifted with these strange powers, Till has to ensure the same.

Summary
“My humble apologies, Imperator,” Hysilens says, her voice rasping unpleasantly—still so unaccustomed to the human tongue. She clears her throat, pressing a hand to her chest. “To see that fish in the blackness where the sun’s rays dare not shine… it is as a star; radiant in the depths of the sea. Not unlike your blazing light, which guided me to shore.”
Cerydra takes a long sip of her glass, only to fall silent. Golden ichor drips from the corner of her mouth, and Hysilens resists the urge to reach out, and…
“Were you truly so allured?” Cerydra murmurs, shattering the silent moment almost off-handedly—which is strange—no action of the Imperator's is impromptu in the slightest. She is an angler, a chessmaster. She is patient, composed, and she does not err lightly.
But Cerydra blinks as she looks to Hysilens, as if she too is struck with momentary surprise at her own tongue. Her breath is sweet, and warm against her siren’s scales. And Hysilens nods.
“Yes,” she whispers, for none but her light to hear. “I was.”
"Twist the knife, Helektra."

In an instant, Cerydra swivels on her heel. Witness to her departing flame, Hysilens is struck with the urge to call out. To swim back to her side, where she belongs. But the Imperator is utterly lost in thought, muttering to herself as she returns to camp.
summed up their relationship in one paragraph. cerydra always assuming she knows best and hysilens always being unable to word what she actually wants.

Cerydra looks at her and raises a single eyebrow. “You ought to tell me about the hibernation first of all, Dux Gladiorum.”
Hysilens tilts her head. “But I am the least important of these conquests. Naturally, I should report my own affairs last.”
Cerydra smiles, just slightly. “You are no conquest,” she scoffs, raising her scepter. “I conquered you long ago.”

Bookmarker's Notes
Illuga won't live long, being human; being a Lightkeeper, it's statistically unlikely he'll even make it into his fifties. Linnea has also heard talk of his self-sacrificing tendencies, so that probably knocks off at least another few years from his expected lifespan.
Of course, not all bones fossilize, since the conditions are so specific. Will his bones fossilize, or will they just decay? She's not sure which she'd prefer — on the one hand, she doesn't want to lose him suddenly and end up forgetting him completely. On the other, she pictures finding his skull thousands of years from now, touching it and knowing exactly how he'd died, how he'd felt —
Aedon chirps as if to bring her back into reality.
"He's cute," she says.
Illuga grins and she fights the urge to reach out and grab his hand.

Flins catches Illuga smoking. He feels very normal about it.
As Illuga breathes in, Flins feels the plant fibres burn in his flame, but most vividly, the image returns: the embers of the cigarette lighting up azure, himself travelling along their path, past Illuga’s lips, his throat, burning in his lungs as his broad chest expands, penetrating his bloodstream, spreading outward into his strong limbs and stronger heart, being absorbed by Illuga wholly and fully, and it makes him feel more heady than anything he’s ever consumed in the past.

But then Flins huffs a laugh and cracks open one tired eye to look at him. “You would have made a fine addition to Belyi Tsar’s court,” he praises, and Illuga feels himself go red. “Perceptive and well-spoken; I daresay you could have run three circles around the Fair Folk there before they realized what had happened.”
