“It’s not pathetic,” Will interjects quickly, shaking his head, “It’s not—“
“It is, Will,” he hears Mike’s voice break over another hitched breath, “I know you’re… I just want you to be happy. I never want you to come back to Hawkins, but I’m fucking selfish. I’m so selfish, and I’m sorry.”
Will lets the tears spill over and he lets that want that’s always itching under his skin show itself.
“My whole life I’ve missed you every second you’ve been away from me,” Will confesses quietly into the receiver.
If you’re pathetic, I’m wretched.

Not long after the final battle, Mike and Will were inseparable– until Will moved out to New York.
Despite the weekly calls and the freedom of living their lives without terror, there’s no world in which they could last so long apart without it feeling like torture.
Will gets a call, and three days later, Mike is at his doorstep.
It only takes a day for them to fall back together again.

Summary
In which Mike follows Will to New York University for completely normal and emotionally healthy reasons, and then they try drinking together for the first time and Mike realizes pretty quickly that there were other latent feelings involved in his decision. Featuring truly Gen X levels of casual alcohol use, cranky hours at the Met, laundry in a haunted basement, a Psychedelic Furs concert, the gang reuniting for a party at Jonathan’s apartment, one scary incident reflecting the grittier realities of late 80s NYC, love confessions obviously, and rather a lot of hickeys. (And they were roommates!)

Summary
William Byers is stood just a couple of steps away. An outsider would see an unassuming teenage boy who looked almost sweet, fiddling with one of his rings, hip cocked and eyebrow raised curiously. But Mike knows better. Like the fact that on his left ring finger sits the crest of their clan, gifted by his maker, and he was drawing Mike’s attention to it as a show of authority. A reminder that Will was the prince and Mike was lucky to even be allowed to claim a place with them.
He knows that Will dresses in bright colors for the same reason venomous bugs stand out; a warning of danger, and if you get too close then you’ll find out just how toxic they are. He’s never had the chance to get close to the real William Byers but what he’s had is more than enough to understand perfectly. The vampire stood across from him was both spoiled prince and predator, powerful enough to end your life before you even knew he was there, and so far removed from humanity that he took delight in both hunt and action.

Summary
Will has a problem. His sex life with Carlton has gone nearly nonexistent, and he realizes his darker desires can’t be met with him. He eventually comes to the conclusion that he’ll just have to get over it.
But then one night, while Carlton is gone, Mike shows up at his door to apologize for past mistakes… and things take an interesting turn.
OR
Will has dark sexual desires he can’t explore with Carlton, so he takes it out on Mike.
