Summary
There stands a house near the end of the world, on a rocky shore where the North Sea becomes the Gulf of Praxeda and the south wind somehow blows colder than the north, shielded as land is by the Dragon Mountains.
[...]
The door is thrown open and the rider comes out of the darkness, snow blowing in before the door is jammed shut. The Witcher unwinds the face-covering scarf with a customary lack of care, dragging the fur cape down to reveal pale skin scared along the cheek, eyes green as emerald and white hair sticking out rebelliously from a thick braid broken by wind.
”I should have started earlier,” says Ciri as she shakes the snow out of clothes and hair.
Morvran says nothing. He closes his book carefully, stands up from his armchair and walks the five steps across the floor with the ceremony of a man walking up a temple nave beneath the eyes of the gods. He makes obeisance, one knee sinking into the rugs as the Emperor of most of the known world bows to a Witcher vagabond from the hills.
He’ll serve no master but her.

Summary
D'Vana Tendi is fifteen years old. She has already, secretly, decided to enroll in Starfleet in three years. In the meantime, she is reading the manuals.
There are a lot of manuals.
They are very, very strange.
A character study spanning fifteen years, from an Orion teenager reading Navigating Multispecies Social Norms with increasing bewilderment, to a Starfleet officer on the USS Cerritos who has spent a decade learning to live in a one-tenth-bandwidth world — and who is beginning to understand, finally, why the bandwidth was ever restricted in the first place.
Tendi can smell everything. This is not a superpower. It is not a disability. It is the condition of being Orion in a room full of people who can't, and who mostly don't know she can, and who built their entire social architecture to compensate for a sense they don't consciously possess.
She loves them anyway. Possibly because of it.

It's this — the terrible, pointless waste of a sparkling fountain, all the more nonsensical now against the carnage all around them — that hooks Vinny deep in her ribs. Someone shouts; gunfire rattles in the distance. The fountain sings.
"Rogue Trader," Sister Argenta says tentatively, "are you alright?"Five times the Lord Captain is haunted by water.

Summary
Brasidas remembers lying on the lonely deck of his relief-ship and speculating what it might feel like to see her again.
Sunrise. Fresh rain. Battle-frenzy. A deep belly-laugh, or a spinning blue-lotus high. The crush of a wave coming back from low tide, dense and hard, knocking the breath from him like a body blow from a sledgehammer.
He should have known it would be like none of those. So many things about Kassandra are without compare.

Winning the Peace: The Alpha Quadrant after the Dominion War by EmperorNorton150
Fandom Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Lower Decks (Cartoon)
08 Feb 2025
Summary
"It's not enough to win a war. Anyone can do that. It's what comes next that's important." - Min Zefe, President of the United Federation of Planets, 2375
The Dominion War (2373-2375) was the single most destructive conflict in the known history of the Federation, and eventually entangled virtually every major power in the Alpha, Beta, and Gamma Quadrants of the Milky Way. Though the UFP and its allies were able to win a decisive victory on the battlefield, that was only the beginning of the long, weary struggle to build a new and better Galaxy.
Luckily, that's what the Federation specializes in.
