He blinks. Gordon considers stabbing himself. That’d be a little more dignified. Die with intention instead of getting himself killed trying to put a hole through a hallucination. Or, worse, giving himself a halfway hackjob and living to explain it to the cavalry. Officer, there was an NPC in my kitchen.

"A Flimsy excuse" asks the question: "what if everything that happened was real. And we got a semi-explanation for Benrey's little quirks? What if we added MORE aliens into the mix as well?" Well you might get to peer into conflicting motives, people losing the ability of choice, and empathy that despite everything, seeps through the cracks.
This fic is short, but is a labor of love over the course of 2+ years. One I began writing the moment HLVRAI took over my life, and have since then have been polishing the best I can. I might come back to fix more things later on too.
There IS a second part planned, but nothing concrete. So please enjoy what I've written :D

Levi knew, all at once—and not quite at all—what lived at the end of Eren's unfinished line. His heart ached both for himself and for Jaeger, or maybe for the sheer unfairness of honesty turned burden.
There was a time when Levi would have acknowledged the underlying meaning with a curt nod.
