Summary
Basil's geography project requires him to photograph a series of different trees over the summer.
He spontaneously asks his childhood best friend, Sunny, to come with him on his project while he is visiting town over the summer.
Somewhere between the sounds of a shuttering camera, the endless tangents, and the rustling of maps, the project starts to become about something else entirely.
(Set the summer after the good ending and in Third Person Limited from the perspective of Sunny)

“He won’t even fight back! Fucking pansy!”Basil quivered with anger and his own sobs as he closed in on himself. What these idiots didn’t know is that pansies were some of the most resilient flowers he’d had the pleasure to grow.
Another kick plummeted into his gut.
No matter what seemed to happen to them, they always seemed to pop back.
A punch hit his jaw, and he tried feebly to bite out at the hand that did it.
His grandmother ran over a bed of them with her car one time. All the blossoms died, but the roots remained.
The same hand roughly gripped his face, their stubby fingers digging in, clamping his mouth closed like an iron vice.Rain, snow, even hail, those stubborn flowers just never seemed to die.
His hair was being grabbed and pulled. Basil cried out in pain. Won’t they leave? They won, just go…

Musical tutoring paid off as Sunny began to move on time with the slow beat, keeping Basil close to him. Far too big shoes and tiny legs made it difficult to be anything close to graceful, but neither of them minded. When they’d trip, or when Basil would step on the empty toe of Sunny’s shoe and slip up, they’d just giggle to each other with rosy red cheeks.
“Sunny…” Basil’s face was glowing in the moonlight. It was dark, but Basil had never looked more like starlight. “I’m really, really glad that I met you.”
Sunny wanted to say something. He wanted to speak so bad, to say that Basil was the best thing that ever happened to him, but he couldn’t; the words just wouldn’t come out. How could he let him know? How could he know for sure that Basil knew just how irreplaceable he was?
It came to him without second thought.

Space In My Head is a veryyyy long fic that should be updated every week or every two weeks in the worst case. It focuses on Sunny creating his own characters and developping them inside his head, and the way he relates with the outside world. Although it's a Sunflower fic, there's not going to be anything but crumbs before the post-canon, same for Captain Spaceboy and Rococo.
