Summary
On March 3rd, 1969, the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to ensure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world.
They succeeded.
Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it:
TOP GUN.
Pete “Maverick” Mitchell makes up part of the minuscule population of omegas present in the US Navy.
He is deemed a hazard by both his superiors and peers, and he flies by the seat of his pants. Miraculously, he manages to bag his dream stint, an opportunity to try his hand for the Top Gun trophy. A chance to fly against the best of the best, and prove that his status as an omega means jackshit. There isn’t much more that Pete strives to achieve in life. He’s got his wings, he’s got Goose, Carole, and little Bradley. It’s all that he’s ever wanted…all he’s ever needed.
Until, a hotshot alpha — callsign “Iceman” — ruins everything. Makes Pete question everything. Maverick refuses to be tied down. For anyone.
