Summary
It’s hot in Hawkins. Well, maybe. Mike doesn’t know. He’s too busy nearly 4000km away on the coast of California, celebrating the last week of summer he has with his friends before they return to university. Another thing he doesn’t know is if he can still swim after years of not being in water, or if he’s anywhere near strong enough to resist the riptide his parents warned him about. But what’s a little proving to Max that he’s not a pussy and could go deeper in the water than her? Nothing bad could happen, right?
OR Mike finds out he is in fact not stronger than a riptide and takes advantage of the ‘afterlife’ when it blesses him with a cute boy, even if he is a little… fishy.

Summary
“Mike followed the sound as it came in short bursts, falling from the same direction each time. He hurriedly dodged a few broken branches as he went, hands occasionally scraping against tree trunks just to steady himself, a reminder he was still alive.
Endless thoughts raced through his mind as he ran:
It could be Will.
God, please. Let it be Will.”
Or: Will Byers has gone missing. Again.
Mike Wheeler, in an irrational and clouded mental state, will do anything to bring him back—even if it means raising the dead.

Summary
Mike unfolds his gangly legs so that he can stretch, shaking the stiffness out of his joints before he stands. He dusts off the back of his jeans and makes a lame attempt at dusting off his hands too, even though he knows it’s useless. There's been dirt under his fingernails and caked around his cuticles for as long as he can remember. He turns to face the headstone, takes in the blue and yellow flowers he’s rested at its base and the words he’s had memorized for four years now.
Here lies William Byers, 1971-1988. Beloved son, brother, friend, sorcerer.
“I wish I was with you,” he whispers, eyes slipping closed while his heart aches, “I know you died, like, a stupid long time ago but I still feel closer to you than anyone else. I know you’d never leave me.”
He doesn’t get an answer. He never does.

Summary
"You're... you're such a jerk," the older Will panted, his eyes fluttering shut, his hands coming up to grip the older Mike’s forearms, though he wasn't pushing him away. If anything, he was pulling him closer.
The older Mike leaned down, his lips brushing against the shell of the older Will’s ear. "Am I?" he whispered, the audio catching the low, gravelly vibration of his voice.
Or:
In the summer of 1989, a video store appears overnight in Hawkins, one no one remembers.
Inside, Mike and Will find a tape labeled with their names, dated years in the future.
When they watch it, they realize it isn’t a movie, it’s them.
But the signal is fragile, only steadying when they are touching; to keep the future from dissolving into static, they must maintain constant physical contact.Bookmarked by KATDN

Summary
“No one just sees a person's nipple and decides to bite it,” Will says, his voice dropping slightly, smoothing out into almost a whisper. “It's unrealistic.”
“Room for correction?” Mike asks.
Mike is a perfectly straight ally writing a queer D&D-inspired story. He just needs a little help from his gay best friend to fix a scene he's stuck on. It's completely innocent. It's just for the book.
(It is not just for the book.)
