Summary
Tension between heroes and villains has escalated past simple, uncoordinated clashes. Each side has become more organized, more desperate to be the ultimate victor. Heroic courses now start in middle school; children with strong and powerful quirks placed on a list in order to be groomed before villains can groom them first. Villains have rallied under One for All, no longer disordered and scattered throughout Japan. As a result, One for All is a name passed around through hushed whispers, sowing fear in the hearts of all. However, this rise to the public eye has also helped the heroes. Citizens, concerned for their lives and others, look desperately to the heroes to defeat the man who severely injured the number one hero, All Might. There are a few that push back against this government incursion, but they are ignored and silenced as the citizens of Japan lap up the black and white propaganda that the hero commission puts out: villains are bad, heroes are good. But many reside in the grey area between. Izuku Midoriya is one of these residents, stolen as a child and forced to be a villain due to his powerful quirk. After years of this, he’s had enough of both heroes and villains, and intends to do something about it.

Summary
When All Might stood over All For One’s crippled body at the beach, Toshinori Yagi found peace. The merchant of quirks, at long last laid low.
Kai Chisaki, however, found opportunity. The world would be cured, one way or another, and there was no better way to study the disease than through its ultimate merchant.
Seven years later, a teacher looking for a long lost friend and a quirkless boy looking for answers pull on a thread better left alone.
All for One’s recovery was a tragedy, but it wasn’t the worst possible outcome. Not by a long shot.

Summary
Despite how desperately he craved connection, Hitoshi forced himself into solitude as much as possible ever since he first fed. He figured it would be worth it to avoid hurting others, even if that was unavoidable at times.
Being a vampire in space, however, was much more complicated.
In space, his instincts screamed that everything and everyone was prey. Almost all of the aliens he came in contact with were fragile, even with him holding back. The ones in the arena were the either even more so; small and brittle. Or they were the only ones that didn't immediately give way under his hands; armored and dense.
It always left him feeling hollow and guilty when he fought. And every escape attempt ended with him returned to an increasingly reinforced cell; sedated, wounded, and muzzled. So he waited.
But now he wasn't on the weird squishy floor of the arena, and this place was too clean to be his cell. Most alarming of all, he had two new cellmates, and they smelled delicious.

Summary
Izuku had been in bad situations before.
He was physically abandoned when he was ten years old (and emotionally abandoned when he was four). He lived on the streets when he was a few months from being eleven. He had almost been sold off by quirk traffickers at thirteen. He had his dreams crushed by his hero when he was fourteen. He became a vigilante shortly after, spite running through his veins. At fifteen, Midoriya Izuku was the most well-known vigilante in Musufatu. He helped stop the League of Villains, he stopped muggings and helped victims of assault and worse.
He had done so many good things, been in many sticky situations.
This might be his worst yet.

"Taumoeba kept me alive, but I became severely malnourished. The microbes gave me calories, but they weren't a balanced diet. Those were painful days. I had scurvy, beriberi, and a raft of other maladies." (Andy Weir, Project Hail Mary, 2021)
