Tommy’s presence was so solid and steady, so comforting. Even through their less-than-stellar first date, when Buck had been so nervous he’d worried that he’d ruined everything before it had begun. Tommy had simply met him with endless patience and understanding.
The three weeks since then had been filled with sweet good morning texts, quick phone calls to catch up, and one brief coffee date on a day where their schedules had lined up that had ended with them heatedly making out in Buck’s Jeep.
They were taking things slow. It was nice, Buck thought. Still, that hadn’t stopped him from fantasizing about getting Tommy out of his clothes, his desire an electric thing that had settled deep into his bones.

Buck frowns. “What’s wrong?”
Eddie shifts his weight from one foot to the other, then winces.
“Eddie. Are you okay, are you hurt—” Buck steps closer, hands raised to assess Eddie for injury, but Eddie jerks back. Buck stops. “Eddie?”
“I did something stupid.” Eddie’s voice sounds rough, like it does first thing in the morning. His cheeks are somehow even more flushed than they were when he first stepped out. Buck can feel the discomfort radiating from him and he just—wants to make it better.
Buck tries for levity. “Like, tried-to-cook-and-almost-burned-the-kitchen-down stupid or someone-cut-me-off-on-the-freeway-and-now-I-need-help-burying-a-body stupid?”
Eddie huffs. “More tried-getting-off-for-the-first-time-in-months-and-got-a-vibrator-stuck-up-my-ass stupid.”

Fuck. Eddie’s ridiculously hard in his kitchen. Buck’s only halfway through his popsicle. He reiterates, fuck.
“Sorry, what?” Eddie’s voice sounds like gravel.
Buck frowns at him. “Are you okay?” His popsicle drips onto his hand. Eddie’s eyes on it must remind Buck of its existence because he goes, “Oh, shit,” and drags his tongue up the sticky-pink path of the stray droplet.
“Jesus fuck.”
Buck stops, tongue still poking out, eyes big and round and trained on Eddie.
Eddie groans. “You can’t just do that.”
Buck’s tongue, thankfully, horribly, goes back into his mouth. “Do what?”
