Summary
The motivations behind Truthless Recluse actually applying himself to studying for finals were nothing he wanted to admit. What he could admit, however, was that studying properly for the first time in a while was more exhausting than he'd realized. So it was really no surprise that the Sage of Truth noticed his weariness, much less what he wanted to about it.
How he managed to take Recluse's mind off of things was a bit more of a surprise—yet not nearly as much as how much Recluse liked this new style of play.

Summary

Summary
The room is too bright.
It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.
It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.
With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.

I reach down, running my fingers through his hair. He still doesn’t look at me, so I ask, If we met on the plane the night my condo blew up, how did you know to blow it up?
Tyler finally opens his eyes. He looks directly at me, eyes shining the way they do when I’ve said something that excites him.

“You want to fight now, Sage?” Recluse’s voice was low, the smoke of his scent curled hotter, sliding down Sage’s throat until it felt like fire in his lungs. He leaned closer, so close Sage could feel the words shudder against his lips.
“You know what I think?” His tone dropped to a venomous murmur, cruel in its mockery. “I think you want to be an omega.”
Sage’s eyes widened, then narrowed, the faint blush at his cheeks deepening even as his grin wavered. He tried to laugh, to twist it into delight again, but the sound faltered.
“Maybe you’re the one who’s too kept.” Truthless continued, his smile cruel. “Maybe you're the one who refuses to choose an omega, who toys with admirers but never courts, never marks, never claims. You strut around like some untouched treasure, but perhaps it’s not vanity— perhaps you don’t want to be an alpha at all.” His eyes burned, gold and blue aflame.
“Perhaps what you really want is to be bitched. To be put in your place.”

Summary
Truthless Recluse's reasons for secluding himself at the Peak of Truth were twofold. One, he had an endless life to dedicate to guarding the wicked truths held there. Two, his distance meant the townsfolk were safe from him and his hunger. Why the Sage of Truth didn't realize this, he couldn't possibly say. He kept coming back with that same curious glint in his eyes, asking about everything that made vampires tick.
Which was all well and good until he convinced Recluse to show him how he hunts his prey.
(Title is from the poem Lenore, famously quoted in Dracula)
