Summary
Ambrosius is no longer in critical condition after his fight with Nimona, and will soon be discharged from the hospital. He is far from recovered, though, and will require round-the-clock care. Ballister, perhaps foolishly, offers to take him in and Ambrosius, perhaps even more foolishly, agrees. So Ballister has to head to Ambrosius's old house, the Champion's Mansion, to retrieve some of his things. The house tells a story about the fifteen years they spent apart.
