Summary
Thomas Theseus Innit was only 5 when the zombie apocalypse started, 7 when his parents both lost their lives to the weirdly smart and athletic zombies.
Now here he was; after years of surviving on his own, wondering if his decision to go into this strangely abandoned city was a good one.
Especially since the place holds a few walkers way too sentient for his liking, and why won’t they leave him alone?
OrHis awakening wasn't so peaceful.
The first thing he noticed was that burning feeling that clung to his skin the moment he entered the city.
Like he was being watched.
Then he realized how dark it was. It must still be night, but the soft moonlight that acted as his only comfort was now gone, replaced by a tall shadow.
Tommy was confused for a moment, until the shadow moved.
He was up in an instant, whipping around to look at the bedroom window behind him.
There, squating on the apartment buildings fire escape, was a zombie.
It was right up against the glass, rapid breath causing it to fog from its proximity.
It’s blood shot eyes staring right at him.

He was in the middle of digging out a practically large quartz from the earth when he heard a branch snap from across the small stream.
His head whipped up, looking into the dense woods ahead. Usually the boy would just assume it was an animal, but his gut said otherwise. Something whispered at the back of Tommys head, telling him to be alert.
He picked up his basket, moving back a few steps to the forest's edge. He always trusted his gut, having identified the difference between anxiety and intuition ages ago.
That's when he heard a long whistle cut through the air like a knife. It was a rythemless tune, as if beckoning him to whistle back.
Oh yeah, he needed to get the fuck out of here, like now.

During the second battle of L’manberg Tommy accidentally gets too close to an explosion, sending him tumbling into a dark cave. He’s bleeding out and doesn’t know if anyones coming to get him. If anybody even notices he’s gone.

I mean explosives were fucking raining from the sky, destroying the nation he’d once called his home, even if that seemed like a lifetime ago now.
In his defence he was distracted at the time. Watching Dream, the man who manipulated him for months, lighting up the redstone machine above town. He didn’t see the TNT that fell just a bit too close, didn’t see the iron supply waiting to be turned to a fresh pair of armour.
Only when the blast went off did he understand how much he’d fucked up.

Tommy marched upstairs standing in empty rooms, not a single person in sight. In fact even the suit cases that were piled up in his foster parents room for a week were gone.“Uh oh” he said before running out to the detached garage only to see the cars missing.
Once he'd searched every room in the dreadful house he realized the unthinkable.
“They left me.”
Meanwhile……
“And you said they were leaving Tomorrow morning?” a pink haired man says.
“Yep, they'll be gone for a week and have no alarm system, hell the entire block is gonna be out this week, they all told me from their own mouths”
“This is gonna be one of our easiest jobs yet mate” says the blond driver.
