When the territory of your village - and everyone residing inside of it - became spoils for enemy territory after a months of the bloodiest battle you’d ever witnessed, you expected more carnage. You expected the warriors your men spoke of to be ruthless and stoic, to take and pillage without permission, without seeking forgiveness. You’ve seen how men become with battle; you’ve been one of many they take out their losses on.
But your new chieftains and perceived enemies aren’t any of those things. They’re a bit quiet, untouchable at times, but they certainly aren’t cruel. In fact, compared to the men of your own village, they might even be considered kind.
