    Summary

    Rumi doesn’t leave.

She doesn’t want to. Even if she had tried, it would probably have been impossible – Zoey and Mira have positively caged her in, and she doesn’t think there's a way of escaping. She’s basically buried underneath them.

    She… she likes it.

The way they don’t seem to shy away from her, the way both of them seem to seek physical contact.
She doesn’t even think that anyone ever hugged her, before she met her team.
And now, she’s here, between her first and best friends – and Zoey keeps burying her head in Rumi’s shoulder, whenever she laughs too much; and Mira’s legs are pressed against her own, and the taller girl absentmindedly grabs her hand every now and then.

She thinks she might like it - being held like this.

In which the Honmoon is more than just a shield protecting the world from demons - it is a net, is a connection, it binds souls together and never lets them go again. And it has chosen. Rumi is just left to wonder if, despite of what she is, the other two parts of her soul will be able to love her, still.

    Summary

This is what happened: years ago, Mira and Zoey had someone, and then they lost her.

    It happens, sometimes.

    People disappear.

But years ago, Mira and Zoey had someone, and then they lost her. Then, they thought that they might have found her again – because Rumi was everything they once had, because she was the third hunter, because her soul was bound to theirs like they were to each other.

They never asked, in the end.

What had happened that made the other woman slip away like she did.

But it never did feel completely right, after, despite everything. Because Rumi was there but she also wasn’t, because she laughed and joked with them but never quite fully, because she would lean into their touch sometimes and then shrink away from it the next moment. Because she had walls all around her, and rarely, if ever, took them down.

Rumi had always been scared of something.

    – .˳·˖✶𓆩𓁺𓆪✶˖·˳. –

(Or: the bond between the hunters tells them of each others emotions, each others pain. Rumi, naturally, decides that her sins are hers alone to carry, that she cannot burden the other two with them. But such secrets rarely stay hidden.)

    Summary

“You’ve seen me in a dream,” says the Bringer of Happiness.

It is not a question, Hollyberry realizes. This Cookie knows her from ancient times, times so ancient she wasn’t even conscious yet, nothing but a dollop of flour in the Witches’ bakery.

“I suppose I have,” says Hollyberry. She tries to maintain her usual bravado, her fierceness. But this Cookie unravels her in a way she’s never been cracked open before. She feels known, raw, laid bare, like she’s just dough on a table; and yet it is not entirely unpleasant, the way the Bringer of Happiness looks at her with a certain hunger.

“Stay with me,” says the Bringer of Happiness. “Sleep. Forget all your troubles.”

Hollyberry can feel her eyes closing already. Her lids are heavy. What is this wizardry? She has never felt compelled to sleep; her insomnia, all her worries, keep her awake at night. She tries to fight this sleep, but finds that she doesn’t really want to. Not when the Bringer of Happiness begins to lie next to her, and she feels her weight, a weight she finds–comforting? Like she’s known this other pale, pink Cookie in another life.

    Summary

Lips slightly parted, Eternal Sugar drank in the sight of her: sleeves rolled up to expose her broad forearms, effortless in their strength. There’s a venerable quality about her, caught within the aged spaces of her creases and scars. The woman laughed again, and she tilted her head to better study the flush on her lips, a lovely shade of red. Just like hers.

Gorgeous. All of her, down to every minute detail of her frame and face, so wholly and entirely glorious that she yearned for a mere taste of it upon her tongue.

Fresh after a feeding, Eternal Sugar catches sight of a woman at a tavern, and simply can't get her out of her head.
