Summary
After confronting Orin, the Dark Urge visits her old ally, Enver Gortash, in search of some understanding.
Still sticky with Orin’s lifeblood, Harmony felt restless and half-wild. Her companions were dear to her but she needed… tonight, she needed to be understood. And some instinct in her whispered that she could only find that understanding in one place.
Gortash wasn’t yet in his bedroom when she arrived, even though the hour was late.
Not a surprise, she found. He was industrious, his clever mind always at work.
Forgive me, Father...
No need of that, not anymore. She was no longer Bhaal’s, having been disowned by him as surely as Shadowheart had been disowned by Shar.

Summary
"How do I know you won't simply enjoy yourself?" Kalisera asked.
Enver shrugged. He was in one of those ridiculous unlaced shirts that he liked so much to wear. She might think that he was taunting her, but he'd been wearing the same kind of outfit when she'd met him during his inauguration as Archduke, months ago.
"If I do, it's your fault," he said.
She raised her eyebrow and studied him.
"You will enjoy it," she concluded. "I don't see how it can be a deterrent against bad behavior if you enjoy it."

Summary
Enver Gortash has been a follower of tyranny most of his life and he's learned that, sometimes, calculated submission can be the most useful tool of all.
Enver’s first thought when he actually met the Bhaalspawn that he’d been searching out was that she looked so… innocent.
It was the furthest thing from the truth — she was the head assassin of the Bhaalist cult in Baldur’s Gate, and the genesis of the most bloody murders that he’d had his people sniff out — but appearances were incredibly deceiving, in this case.
“You’ve been looking for me,” she said, and she had to tilt her chin up to fix her gaze onto his. Her eyes were dark and bottomless, though perhaps the lack of light was to blame. “My father is not fond of Banites. Speak your purpose so that I might decide whether or not to kill you.
