Laufey the Just had watched her people die, every home before this one destroyed, every effort come to naught. She had done terrible things, things she justified at the time but could no longer.
She thought she was ready. She even welcomed it, in her darker moments. She thought she wouldn't care about the warrior she would have Loki with, about even her son’s grim fate, so long as Asgard fell.
She wasn't ready anymore.
