Stiles is freezing cold, his fingers are stiff in Derek’s hands, his cheekbones have dots of red, but the rest of his face is pale; his lips look alarmingly blue and they tremble when Stiles attempts to speak. His teeth chatter, his words are slurred.
Derek can make out the Derek? Stiles barely manages to let out because of the rolling sounds between clacking of teeth, because he’s more familiar than he wants to admit with the way Stiles says his name.

Stiles shudders as Derek rests his face on his chest, clawed hands coming up to grip his sides; he can hear Derek's agitated breathing, can feel the way he's pressing Stiles harder, harder, against the wall.
“Sure, big guy,” he breathes out, tapping the fingers of his left hand on his own leg nervously, biting at his lip until the sensitive skin there feels sore, and the cold air coming through the open window makes his lips tingle, wet and abused.

Summary

Stiles' mom was the only reason they were going to move to Beacon Hills and so when she turns up dead, a supposed "animal attack", there's nothing for them there. Stiles dad takes him to New York where he establishes himself as a PI of the Supernatural persuasion. Unable to let go of the circumstances of his mother's death, Stiles does the best a kid can do pursuing the case against his father's wishes.
Years pass until suddenly Stiles is orphaned at sixteen and on his way back to Beacon Hills, back to where it all seemed to have started.

Written for a dialogue prompt on Tumblr - “I’m gonna lay down and die for like a half hour, okay?”
-
“Stiles,” Derek says, urgently, pulls Stiles’ face to look at him.
“I teleported,” Stiles breathes, and then, before his filter can catch up with him, adds, “Oh my god, I didn’t know if that would work!”
Derek looks up, over at Lydia, at something she’s saying, but Stiles is barely paying attention - the room’s started going fuzzy again. The werewolf looks down again at him, and Stiles is having trouble holding his own head up now, bone-deep exhaustion pulling him down fast and hard.
“I’m gonna…” Stiles murmurs, doesn’t know if he’s actually talking out loud or just moving his mouth like he’s speaking. ““I’m gonna lay down and die for like a half hour, okay?”
