Summary
Ilya doesn’t seem to go out much, aside from the few times Shane sees him leave and return dragging two armfuls of groceries. He slips out onto the fire escape several times a day, every day, to chainsmoke and look miserable. It’s only natural, given the sheer amount of time he spends out there, that Shane would cross paths with him while using his own patio.
Shane has a four year plan to captain his college hockey team and join the MLH, but none of that will happen if he gets lung cancer from all the cigarette smoke his smartass new neighbor produces, or if he keeps wasting his time meeting him on the fire escape.

Shane took a deep breath and walked toward Ilya. Steeling himself, he said, “Hey.”
“Not here.” Rozanov said tightly.
“No, I’m not…I just wanted to see…I need to talk to you.”
“We have nothing to talk about Hollander. Not here.” Rozanov said. Shane frowned. Rozanov looked exhausted. His eyes had lost the playful spark that made them dance. He took a deep breath, noting the clear absence of his warm alpha scent.
“Rozanov, I need to talk to you. It’s important.” Shane pleaded. “You didn’t answer my text...”
“No, I didn’t answer your boring text. Now will you go?
Shane's omega was begging him to stay, to tell his - no the alpha but he pulled himself together. "Fine. Goodbye" he walked away, finding a storage closet and sinking to the ground."It's okay, we don't need him" he whispered, his hand drifting down to his stomach. Against his will, a few tears escaped as his omega wailed in his chest.
Or: Omega Shane finds out he’s pregnant during the Sochi Olympics, tries to tell Rozanov, and suffers from rejection sickness when the alpha dismisses him.

Alex is hurting him, he knows he is. He knows Henry has real feelings for him and Alex feels like the scum of the Earth. The way Henry looks at him – like he can’t believe Alex is real. Alex knows he doesn’t deserve that look, yet he can’t help but feel warm from head to toe every time he is on the receiving end of it.
