Essek came to the shelter simply hoping to be able to breathe again. He doesn't dream at being healed or reintroduced to society as if nothing happened. He just wants to be able to get through a whole day without worrying about a panic attack or nightmares plaguing his sleep, without recoiling from closeness and feigning arrogance instead of being open.
He can't even begin to imagine what must be going through Bren's mind, coming here for the third time in the last ten years. Why is he back if he's already been living on the outside for years now?
