    Loki's plan has gone very wrong, leaving him exactly where he never wanted to be: on the Throne. Grappling with a terrible knowledge best left in the dark. But with war on the horizon, Thor banished but safe on Midgard, and Odin fallen into the Odinsleep, Loki will do what he must to safeguard his Kingdom. Whether they want him or not.

    ... It's just a shame Hogun saw the Jötunn skin hidden beneath the face of the second Prince of Asgard.
    And it can be no coincidence that on Thor's Coronation, the day ends with a Frost Giant changeling holding the King's Spear. Afterall, why else would Frost Giants enter the Vaults of Asgard, other than to trick Thor into triggering a war Jötunheimr has lusted after since the Casket of Ancient Winters was taken from them?

    Meanwhile, the looming war opens old wounds for young Prince Helblindi and Býleistr, who still remember the night their baby brother was stolen as insurance by the King of Asgard. But perhaps this new Regent can be reasoned with?

    "Exile still seems the best option, Stoick..."

    Stoick should have known better. While he didn't know much about his son-especially now-he knew the boy was clever. It should have been no surprise when a guard burst into the Council Meeting and revealed that Hiccup had escaped the cell Stoick put him in...hours after the boy was revealed to have saddled a dragon.

    Hiccup is gone, and so is the beast.

    They search, but do not find him. Berk falls asleep one night and awakens in the Great Hall, where the torches come to life and cast an image of their isle on the wall, from which floats Hiccup's voice, years younger.

    AKA, Hiccup forfeited the final challenge, leaving Astrid with the right to kill the Nightmare. Story picks up in the Race to the Edge era, except Berk never learned the truth of dragons, no one knows how Hiccup really lost his leg, and stories of a hooded 'vigilante' riding a Night Fury have been long whispered...and Berk will see it all unfold.
